Mostly it's "comically" rendered cartoon characters. Live-action AP depictions tend to be throwaway plot devices for some story we wish didn't exist. They barely depict or acknowledge the size increase, and almost never clothes tightening. It's often ruined with magic spells and unrealistic gibberish. The torture of false hope, that in the end delivers nothing...
Almost all AP in all media is false AP, a dead end that prevents the AP we really want from being created. Our dream is to experience the momentary illusion that AP could actually happen in reality, and the implicit power of this process. False AP is infinitely worse than no AP. If I could have one wish, I would delete 99% of it.

Like a collection of high school yearbook photos, there's something unsettling about the portraits of these 8 young men. Their skin looks too smooth and plastic, like an airbrush job gone bad. Beshty sent school photographs of himself, between the ages of 6 and 12, to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. He led the forensic artist to believe that they were pictures of 8 brothers, and requested renderings of each "individual" at the age of 25 - his age at the time of the project. The center produced 8 startlingly different images, none of which resemble the grown-up artist. Beshty calls attention to our misplaced faith in the wonders of modern technology and our tendency to accept photographs as truth. "They were pretty pissed that they were exploited."
